Curriculum Development

Assessment work and educational innovation

Soon after joining as a medical educationist, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted conventional teaching, and I was tasked with developing SOPs for the transition to online classes at AJKMC. Under considerable time pressure, I drew on my training in online and distance education to address platform selection, equitable access, and academic integrity in remote assessment. This experience was a defining early test of my role, reinforcing my adaptability and confidence in leading institutional change during crisis — a foundation that continues to inform how I approach continuity planning and technology integration in medical education.

I undertook the Certificate Course in Online & Distance Education by deliberate choice, recognizing blended learning as an inevitable direction for medical education. I sought to be among the first at my institution to gain this expertise, positioning myself to lead rather than simply respond to this shift. My firm belief is that a medical educationist must anticipate change rather than simply adapt to it, and that investing in emerging pedagogical competencies — even before their necessity becomes apparent — is itself a form of leadership.
